The first time I had this delicious chocolate avocado mousse was at a girlfriend’s party. She did not tell anyone that the mousse was made with avocado and asked us to guess the ingredients on it. Well… nobody guessed it right because you really can’t taste the avocado here. It was a mind-blowing discovery for me and since I always have avocados at home and I always need to eat dessert after dinner, this has become one of my fav desserts.
Avocados are very good for you; they are high in all sort of nutrients, keep you satiated for longer because of the fiber and good fats they contain (1), and they are linked to multiple health benefits.
Let’s go!
Gluten-free, nut-free, refined sugar-free, vegan
Yield: 2 servings
Time: 5 min
Ingredients
1 large, ripe avocado
1 Tbsp (15 ml) coconut oil, melted, or vegetable oil
¼ cup (60 ml) vegetable milk
1/4 cup (20 gr) pure cocoa powder
3 Tbsp (35 ml) maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 pinch of salt
Toppings
Pomegranate
Yogurt
More chocolate!
Directions
Put all the ingredients in a food processor or high-speed blender and blend until well combined.
Serve or let cool in the fridge if you like it colder.
By the way…
I have never tried to keep it overnight, I always make it while cooking dinner and place it in the fridge until we have finished dinner (so about 30 min) because I like it cold. Since it is avocado I am not sure how the texture will be and as is literally done in a couple of minutes I prefer to do it and eat it the same day…
